Our Homes
Wishing Tree House
Our centre, on the border between Westmeath and Roscommon, is known as Wishing Tree House. This is a dual occupancy centre on a large, beautiful site with access to local amenities in Athlone town. The centre has a large kitchen and dining area, two reception rooms and each young person will have their own room with spectacular views and calm open spaces.
The Centre is called Wishing Tree as a fairy fort with hawthorn trees are positioned to the top of the site. While it is Irish folklore that these trees are believed to be home to “wee folk” known as fairies, there is much more to uncover to the centre and site with its large gardens and proximity to outdoor pursuits and activities.
Athlone town (Baile Atha Luain) meaning ‘The town of Luan’s ford, is a town on the border of Co. Roscommon and Co. Westmeath. It is located on the River Shannon near the southern shore of Lough Ree. It is the second most populous town in the Midlands Region with a population of 21, 349 in the 2016 census.
Most of the town lies on the east bank of the river and the town itself boasts a large suite of community facilities from entertainment, education, historic, architectural, medical, and social.
